WORKMEN INJURY BENEFIT ACTS (WIBA)


WIBA Policy follows the provisions of The Work Injury Benefits Act, 2007. It covers all employees of the Insured including persons employed in Kenya but temporary deployed outside Kenya for a period not exceeding 12 months.

WIBA gives indemnity to insured for injury, disease or death of an employee arising out of and in course of employment by the insured in the business insured.

According to WIBA Act 2007, an employee is a person who has been employed for wages or a salary under a contract of service.

An employer is required to comply with all statutory requirements including but not limited to Safety & Health Committee requirements under Occupational safety and Health Act 2007, Transportation of Workers and maintenance of proper employee records.

Employers also have a duty to employ competent workers, provide safe working environment and a safe system of work.
